About: Diane

Diane McCarron has been on the SpEd Forms Leadership Committee since 2010. She serves as a voice representing Southwest Minnesota.

Education
Diane earned both her Specialist degree in Educational Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from St. Cloud State University. Diane also earned a Masters degree in Education from the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She also holds teaching licenses in Elementary Education, Emotional/Behavioral Disorders K-12, Teacher/Coordinator Work Experience Handicapped, as well as in Mild to Moderate and Moderate to Severe Mentally Handicapped K-12.

Professional Experience
Diane began her career as a teacher and case manager for students with special needs in Martin County West Special Education District between 1979 and 1984. She then served the Eden Valley-Watkins School District between 1985 and 2000 as a teacher and case manager for K-12 students with special needs. Over the next five years, Diane was a Study Skills Teacher and Peer Tutor Coordinator for grades 6-12 at the American School of Warsaw in Poland. During this post, she chaired the K-12 special needs education committee for the school, and made presentations at the European League of Middle Level Education conference in Rome, Stockholm, Budapest, Barcelona and Warsaw.

In 2005, Diane returned to Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary School as a special education teacher for grades 1-6. Since 2008, she has served as the Coordinator of Educational Programs for the South West / West Central Service Cooperative.

Diane currently serves on the Community Interagency Transition Committee in Willmar, is a member of the South West / West Central Service Cooperative (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) ADOS assessment Team, and serves on a Special Education Advisory Panel for the Minnesota Department of Education.

Personal Notes
Outside of work, Diane is an avid gardener and loves quilting. She likes to travel and is adjusting to the role of parenting two emerging “twenty-something” adults.
