Gary Lewis – CEO and Forms Committee Chair
Gary was a co-author of the original FileMaker Pro version of SpEd Forms in 1993. He is the primary consultant for due process for SpEd Forms, chairs the Forms Committee and assumed the role of CEO in July, 2013.
Gary has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from UW-Eau Claire, a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from UW-Stout, completed a School Psychology certification program at UW-Eau Claire, and earned a Doctorate in Special Education Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. Gary is currently licensed as a School Psychologist, Director of Special Education and District Superintendent.
Gary began his career as a school counselor in Eau Claire, Thorp and Osceola, Wisconsin. He then served as a school psychologist for the Hiawatha Valley Special Education Coop in Winona, MN and with the Dept. of Defense Dependents Schools in Heidelberg, Germany. After completing his doctorate, Gary served as Supervisor of School Psychology and Social Work Services for the Western Hills Area Education Agency in Sioux City, Iowa. In January, 1989, Gary returned to Minnesota as the Director of River Bend Education District in New Ulm. In 2003 Gary began serving as Director of Student Services with Northfield Public Schools until he retired from public education in December, 2013. Gary served on the Board of Directors of MN Council for Exceptional Children (MN CEC) for six years and on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Administrators for Special Education (MASE) in various capacities for nineteen years. He was presented the MASE Distinguished Service Award in 1999 and served as MASE President in 2003-04. Gary has served on a number of state committees and work groups, including chairing the Third Party Leadership Committee that established MA billing for health-related IEP services in Minnesota.
Gary grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and is a die hard Packer fan. Gary and his wife, Rosemarie, have three adult children. Outside of work, Gary enjoys reading, bicycling, photography, wine tasting and plays guitar regularly at church.
